Abstract
⺠IL-6 was higher in MDD-M patients compared to healthy controls. ⺠TNF-α was lower in MDD-M and MDD-A patients compared to healthy controls. ⺠Confounding factors (sex, age, BMI and smoking) did not influence cytokine levels. ⺠Clinical parameters were related to cytokine levels only in atypical depression. ⺠Duration of antidepressant treatment correlated to IL-6 in both MDD-M and MDD-A.
