► Mecamylamine pretreatment reduced ethanol's effects on 2 VC FEP amplitudes. ► Ethanol and mecamylamine Increased latency of FEP components. ► Ethanol and mecamylamine produced hypothermia. ► Ethanol decreased ambulation in a small chamber, but increased it in an open field. ► Mecamylamine lowered blood alcohol concentration in hooded and albino rats.
