Abstract
âºCyclooxygenases (COX) and 5-lipoxygenase (5-LOX) are considered inflammatory enzymes. âºCOXs and 5-LOX appear to participate in the pathobiology of Alzheimer's disease (AD). âºTheir role in AD may involve both inflammatory and inflammation-unrelated mechanisms. âºThese mechanisms include the cell-specific brain localization of COXs and 5-LOX. âºAlso involved could be a specific interplay between the COXs and 5-LOX pathways.
