Abstract
⺠The molecular mechanisms that cause and maintein depression are currently unknown. ⺠We examine some of the paradigms that are used to explain the disorder. ⺠We analyze these theories from the perspective of the dopaminergic system. ⺠Several shared components are highlighted through this perspective.
