Abstract
⺠Poor insight in OCD was correlated with increased OCD severity and increased hoarding symptomatology. ⺠Other clinical variables were not correlated with level of insight in OCD, after OCD symptom severity was controlled for. ⺠Thus, insight represents a distinct characteristic entity associated with worse illness severity. ⺠Insight might be a moderator or mediator of treatment effects in OCD, especially in behavioral therapy. ⺠Further studies should examine the role of insight as a moderator and mediator of treatment response in OCD in both behavioral therapy and pharmacological trials.
