Abstract
⺠We compare toxicity of haloperidol, risperidone and paliperidone in cell culture. ⺠We measured viabilility, apoptosis (fluorimetry) and cell death (flow cytometry). ⺠Haloperidol is the most neurotoxic antipsychotic and clearly induces apoptosis. ⺠Paliperidone shows the strongest neuroprotective effect and a reduced apoptosis level. ⺠Effects observed on cell survival can be related to antipsychotic-induced EPS.
