Abstract
⺠A brief overview of neuropathy target esterase (NTE) is presented. ⺠Toxicological data support NTE aging as the trigger for OP neuropathy. ⺠Conditional NTE knockouts and mutations result in neurodegeneration. ⺠NTE is a phospholipase: PNPLA6, nearly identical to insulin-regulated PNPLA7. ⺠Future research: is NTE regulated by insulin and involved in diabetic neuropathy?
