► Rottlerin induces apoptosis and NAG-1 expression in cancer cells. ► CHOP is not involved in rottlerin-induced NAG-1 up-regulation. ► The effect of rottlerin on NAG-1 expression is independent on PKC δ activity. ► Suppression of NAG-1 expression attenuates rottlerin-induced apoptosis.
