Abstract
MoO3 and V2O5 thin films were prepared on glass substrates by Spray Pyrolysis technique at a substrate temperature of 423 K. The precursor solutions were obtained by varying the concentrations of MoCl5 and VCl3 in bi-distilled water. The structural investigation conducted by X-ray diffraction showed that MoO3 and V2O5 thin films were polycrystalline with orthorhombic structure. The optical properties studied in the 300–2500 nm range suggest that the thin film behaviours are related to bound electronic states. The optical band gaps have been estimated from slopes of ln(αhν) versus hν plots of MoO3 and V2O5 films were 3.35 and 2.44 eV, respectively. The electrical conductivity was measured using four probes method.
