Abstract
► Tobacco smoke particulate matter (PM) was stored at −80 °C for up to 2 years. ► Fresh and stored PMs were compared in the Ames test, MLA, MNvit and NRU assays. ► Majority of comparisons demonstrated no differences between fresh and stored PM. ► Where differences were observed they showed no consistent trends or patterns. ► The minor differences were not attributed to a specific storage related effect.
