Abstract
⺠Safety of Whole Algalin Flour (WAF; dried milled Chlorella protothecoides) was assessed. ⺠WAF (⩽5000 μg/plate) was not mutagenic in Salmonella typhimurium or Escherichia coli tester strains. ⺠WAF was not clastogenic in mouse bone marrow after a single 2000 mg/kg bw oral dose. ⺠WAF (dry undiluted) was not allergenic in a human repeat-insult dermal patch test. ⺠Oral NOAEL for WAF in rats was 4807 (male) and 5366 (female) mg/kg bw/d.
