Abstract
⺠Filtered cigarillos dimensionally similar to cigarettes are growing in popularity. ⺠Unlike cigars, many such products are highly flavored and smoke can be inhaled. ⺠Little known about toxicity of cigarillo mainstream smoke (MSS) versus cigarette MSS. ⺠Used in vitro assays to determine MSS mutagenicity, cytotoxicity, and clastogenicity. ⺠Assays showed MSS from cigarillos was not less toxic than MSS from cigarettes.
