Abstract
► Arsenic might inhibit synaptic formation through disturbance of astrocytic functions. ► NR2 subtypes might be the target site sensitive to arsenic effects. ► Arsenite in astrocytes might down-regulated expression of neuronal CaMKII and AC. ► Protein expression of AC changed earlier in response to astrocytic signals. ► AC was more sensitive to arsenic effects in astrocytes as compared to CaMKII.
