► Preventive role of glycyrrhizic acid was studied against B(a)P rat lung toxicity. ► Lung injury estimations in bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF) and tissue as well. ► Glycyrrhizic acid reduced lung injury markers in BALF. ► Protection of sEH and TrxR correlate with cell survival involving NF-κB. ► Glycyrrhizic acid administration shows rat lung protection against benzo(a)pyrene.
