Abstract
⺠Acetylcholinesterase (AChE) is a target of Mn in the central nervous system. ⺠Mn inhibits AChE, representing a novel mechanistic finding for its mode of action. ⺠AChE inhibition may trigger or contribute to the development of oxidative stress. ⺠Excess Mn can trigger the release of inflammatory mediators. ⺠AChE activity may serve as an early biomarker of Mn neurotoxicity.
