Abstract
⺠Manganese chloride promotes oxidative DNA damage in cultured SH-SY5Y neuronal cells. ⺠The accumulated DNA damage resulted in cell death via an apoptotic pathway. ⺠DNA strand breaks/thymine lesions were measured by comet and mass spec analysis. ⺠The oxidative DNA damage may be associated with Mn-induced reactive oxygen species. ⺠The addition of exogenous antioxidants can reduce the accumulated DNA damage.
