Abstract
⺠Myelin basic protein (Mbp) gene produces alternate transcripts by splicing. ⺠We identified a new Mbp splice variant in rat expressed in developing brain. ⺠We developed a PCR-based approach to properly measure all Mbp splice variants. ⺠As expected, perinatal exposure to methylmercury decreased Mbp gene expression. ⺠Methylmercury did not impact the relative expression of Mbp splice variants.
