Abstract
⺠Tobacco smoke particulate matter is genotoxic in the Ames test, mouse lymphoma assay and micronucleus test. ⺠These in vitro methods can quantitatively resolve the genotoxicity of particulate matter from different cigarettes. ⺠To support the quantitative comparison of particulate matter genotoxicity, statistical methods are recommended. ⺠Replication levels of 4-10 resolved 10-30% differences in particulate matter genotoxicity.
