Abstract
â¢This review addresses the care which an ocular prosthetic must undergo once adapted.â¢A suboptimal prosthetic adaptation or a prosthesis in poor condition may create complications in the anophthalmic cavity.â¢A custom-made impression-fitted ocular prosthesis is the best way to minimize or avoid the problems associated with the use of ocular prosthesis.
ABSTRACTAn ocular prosthesis must be maintained in a suitable state of cleanliness, fit and preservation. Otherwise its functioning may be compromised, leading to a variety of diseases. However, there is a lack of consensus on the care of such prostheses. This review assembles and attempts to update existing knowledge in this area and discusses the most appropriate care regimes.
