Abstract
⺠Human femoral neck and shaft samples were evaluated by means of acoustic microscopy. ⺠The values of elastic coefficient (c33) varied significantly between skeletal sites. ⺠Significant variation in c33 was seen between quadrants of the cross-sections. ⺠Age-related increase in cortical porosity and bone tissue stiffness was observed.
