Abstract
⺠We examine the expression of P2 receptors by osteoblasts. ⺠We look at the effects of extracellular nucleotides on osteoblast function. ⺠P2X receptor agonists inhibit bone mineralisation and ALP activity. ⺠P2X receptor agonists increase E-NPP1 activity. ⺠These effects are mediated via the P2X1 and P2X7 receptor subtypes.
