Bisphosphonate related osteonecrosis of the jaw: A minipig large animal model

► Large animal model (minipig) for the bisphosphonate related osteonecrosis of the jaw with no further co-medication. ► Large animal model (minipig) with bone structure and turnover parameters comparable to humans. ► Osteonecrosis induction using regular oncologic zoledronate dosages (administrated weekly in this study and not every 4 weeks as performed in humans). ► Osteonecrosis induction in 80% of the animals of the bisphophonate group. ► Basis for further research: etiopathology, prophylaxis measures, new therapy aproaches.
