Interaction of Tmem119 and the bone morphogenetic protein pathway in the commitment of myoblastic into osteoblastic cells

► Tmem119 is increased by the fibrodysplasia ossificans progressiva-associated constitutively activating BMP type 1 receptor mutation in myoblastic cells. ► Tmem119 induces expression of osteoblast markers in myoblast cells and interacts with the BMP signaling pathway. ► Tmem119 may play a critical role in the commitment of myoprogenitor cells to the osteoblast lineage.
