Abstract
⺠StrAx1.0 accurately and reproducibly segments cortical and trabecular compartments, and the transitional zone, from high resolution images. ⺠Segmenting the transitional zone minimizes erroneous apportioning of cortical fragments to trabecular bone, or thick trabeculae to the cortex. ⺠Porosity is accurately quantified as averaged void volume fraction in all voxels within each compartment, not just counting void voxels. ⺠StrAx1.0 accurately and reproducibly quantifies porosity below, as well as above, the voxel size of 82 μm from HRpQCT images.
