HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors (statins) and bone mineral density: A meta-analysis

► We evaluate whether statins have clinically significant effects on BMD separately at various sites using a MA of all published clinical studies. ► Statins significantly increased BMD at Lumbar Spine, total hip and femoral neck. ► Our findings supported that statins have a beneficial impact on BMD.
