Abstract
► Vitamin D deficiency and fractures are highly prevalent in adult sickle cell disease patients. ► An increase risk of fractures was found in patients with very low vitamin D status. ► No correlation was found between bone mineral density and vitamin D status. ► Vitamin D supplementation should be part of the routine care of these patients.
