Abstract
► A population-based sample was used to estimate the prevalence of risk factors for osteoporotic vertebral fracture. ► A high BMI (≥ 30 kg/m2) and the presence of densitometric osteoporosis were the most prevalent osteoporotic fracture risk factors. ► Densitometric osteoporosis was only associated with prevalent vertebral fracture in obese women. ► A low educational level was associated with a higher risk of vertebral fracture.
