Abstract
⺠Study includes all hip fractures treated in Norwegian hospitals during 1999-2008. ⺠Among 81,867 fracture patients 50 years and more, 7943 sustained two hip fractures. ⺠Survival analyses took competing risk of death into account. ⺠Women had 40% higher risk of second hip fracture compared to men. ⺠Within ten years, 15% of women and 11% of men sustain their second hip fracture.
