Abstract
⺠Pre-pubertal female rats had suppressed hypothalamus or 30% energy restriction. ⺠Bone strength, architecture and bone marrow cells compared. ⺠Bone strength and architecture compromised from hypothalamic suppression. ⺠Energy restriction resulted in smaller animals with mechanically competent bones. ⺠Opposite IGF-1 levels in the models and increased osteocalcin levels in both models.
