Abstract
⺠The cross-sectional area of the femoral neck increases with age. ⺠New bone is added to the inferior and superior aspects of the femoral neck with age. ⺠The age-related increase in femoral neck size does not increase bone strength. ⺠Women have thicker inferior femoral neck cortices than men.
