Abstract
⺠OHSMS audits are a form of social audit. ⺠Social audits require subjective analysis and can be contested. ⺠Financial and social audits are subject to similar, known failures. ⺠We identify five additional types of audit failure. ⺠OHSMS audits can be a distraction, a ritual, and should be treated with caution.
