Circulating IL-6 concentrations and associated anthropometric and metabolic parameters in South Asian men and women in comparison to European whites

► Evidence is growing to suggest that IL-6 has a causal role in atherogenesis. ► We demonstrate higher circulating IL-6 in South Asian women compared to well matched Europeans. ► 30% of this difference could be explained by the higher adiposity in South Asian women. ► This work further establishes links between metabolic and immune pathways.
