Abstract
⺠Osteopontin is involved in the initiation of immune responses to diverse pathogens. ⺠Trypanosoma cruzi infection induces osteopontin release from murine macrophages. ⺠In vivo neutralization of osteopontin augments mice susceptibility to infection. ⺠In vivo neutralization of osteopontin reduces Th1 and Th17 cytokine production. ⺠Endogenous osteopontin helps regulate protective Th1 and Th17 responses to T. cruzi.
