Abstract
⺠Chrysotile and Libby activate the inflammasome in THP-1 cells with release of IL-1β. ⺠Long chrysotile fibers induce more IL-1β than relatively shorter Libby amphiboles. ⺠IL-1β released in conditioned medium triggers MAPK-IL-6 signaling in BEAS-2B cells. ⺠Addition of IL-1Ra has the potential to block the IL-1β signaling in BEAS-2B cells.
