Abstract
⺠Oxidative stress and inflammation are related to metabolic diseases. ⺠There is association between lowering antioxidant enzymes and metabolic diseases. ⺠The study investigated the genetic influence of SOD2 enzyme on cytokines. ⺠The less efficient SOD2 genotype (VV) presented higher proinflammatory cytokines. ⺠The antioxidant metabolism acts on proinflammatory and antiinflammatory cytokines.
