Interleukin-8 gene polymorphism is associated with acute coronary syndrome in the Chinese Han population

► We tested the hypothesis that variants in IL-8 −251A/T was associated with susceptibility to ACS in Chinese Han population. ► The plasma concentration of IL-8 was measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. ► The genetic and molecular data in the present study indicate the association of IL-8 −251A/T polymorphism with ACS in Chinese Han population. ► These findings suggest that the IL-8 gene might be involved in the development of ACS through functional genetic polymorphism.
