Abstract
⺠The cytokine network and its effects in insulin-secreting cells. ⺠The most potent toxicity exhibited IL-1β and its combinations with other cytokines. ⺠IL-1β toxicity depended on nitric oxide generation. ⺠TNFα and IFNγ potentiated IL-1β toxicity without induction of iNOS. ⺠Cytokine toxicity consists of NO-dependent and independent components.
