Abstract
⺠The effects of LDL-apheresis on plasma cytokines in severe hypercholesterolemia were evaluated. ⺠HozFH patients with/without pre-existing CHD and AVD were treated with LDL-apheresis. ⺠Plasma pro- and anti-inflammatory cytokines were measured before and after LDL-apheresis. ⺠The observed cytokines changes are probably due to a direct/indirect effect of LDL-apheresis. ⺠LDL-apheresis induced anti-inflammatory and anti-atherogenic changes in cytokines profile.
