Abstract
► Intracerebroventricular injection of chicken vasoactive intestinal peptide inhibits feeding behavior in chicks. ► The anorexigenic effect of vasoactive intestinal peptide seems not to be related to abnormal behavior. ► The anorexigenic effect of vasoactive intestinal peptide is mediated by corticotrophin-releasing hormone system in the brain. ► Intraperitoneal injection of vasoactive intestinal peptide also suppresses feeding behavior in chicks.
