Abstract
► We describe the GnIH gene in the Pekin drake and three putative transcripts. ► We describe the distribution of GnIH in the Pekin drake brain. ► We describe the effects of ICV GnIH on feeding and reproductive hormones. ► We describe the effects of fasting on LH secretion and GnIH neurons. ► GnIH may be a molecular switch between feeding behaviors and reproduction in the drake.
