Regulation of growth hormone (GH) receptor (GHR1 and GHR2) mRNA level by GH and metabolic hormones in primary cultured tilapia hepatocytes

► We studied regulation of GHR1 and GHR2 in primary cultured tilapia hepatocytes. ► GH stimulated GHR2 but not GHR1 gene expression in vitro and in vivo. ► Insulin reduced GH-stimulated GHR2 gene expression in vitro and in vivo. ► Insulin stimulated GHR1 gene expression in vitro. ► Cortisol stimulated GHR1 and GHR2 gene expression in vitro.
