Abstract
⺠The estrus was the phase of greater activity of MMP-2 and -9 in the female prostate. ⺠The activity of MMP-2 and -9 was very weak in diestrus I and II. ⺠Estradiol and progesterone regulate the activity of MMP-2 and -9 in female prostate. ⺠Activities of MMP-2 and -9 in female prostate were up to 12 times higher than male.
