Abstract
► The troponin C from Manila clam (RpTnC) was identified and characterized. ► RpTnC demonstrated molecular properties of EF-hand Ca2 +-binding protein family. ► RpTnC was constitutively transcribed with highest RpTnC mRNA in adductor muscle. ► Ca2 +-challenge stimulated the RpTnC transcription in adductor muscle. ► mRNA profile implied that Ca2 + could act as a transcriptional stimulant of RpTnC.
