Abstract
⺠We identify two GPX homologous genes in Chlorella. ⺠We examine alternative splicing of their transcripts. ⺠We examine differential responses of GPX genes to oxidative stresses. ⺠The purified recombinant proteins show thioredoxin-dependent peroxidase activities. ⺠Expression of a GPX gene in Synechocystis enhances its oxidative tolerance.
