Abstract
⺠pCW3 is the paradigm conjugative plasmid in Clostridium perfringens. ⺠Mutations were constructed in the pCW3-encoded tcpG and tcpI genes. ⺠tcpG was shown to be essential for high frequency conjugative transfer of pCW3. ⺠TcpG was shown to have peptidoglycan hydrolase-like activity.
