Abstract
⺠A novel mutation in the C3 gene is identified in a 4 year old boy with recurrent pneumococcal infections. ⺠Despite his C3 deficiency, this patient was able to mount an adaptive immune response to protein-conjugated pneumococcal vaccines but not to polysaccharide-based antigen vaccines.
