Abstract
⺠Cholinergic interneurons in the dorsal striatum have a role in food and drug intake. ⺠Acetylcholine (ACh) activation in the nucleus accumbens (NAc) will suppress feeding. ⺠Antagonism of ACh receptors in the ventral tegmental area can reduce drug intake. ⺠Imbalance in accumbens dopamine/ACh is associated with drug and food withdrawal.
