Abstract
⺠Pilocarpine increases passive waking and theta rhythm in ring doves. ⺠Pilocarpine treatment reduced active waking and locomotor activity. ⺠Pilocarpine reduces slow wave sleep as well as REM sleep in ring doves. ⺠Similar cholinergic mechanisms regulate vigilance states in mammals and birds.
