Abstract
► We investigated effects of maternal separation on gut permeability and behavior. ► Permeability increased in prolonged separated rats combined with adult stress. ► Long separation gave lower activity, and corticosterone was elevated. ► Corticosterone was lowered in separated offspring exposed to adult social stress.
