Abstract
► Prenatal vitamin D deficiency was associated with altered pup-retrieval behaviour. ► DVD-deficient dams retrieved their pups sooner than control dams. ► There were no effects of maternal diet on isolation-induced ultrasonic vocalizations. ► DVD-deficient dams and pups had lower vitamin D levels but normal calcium levels.
